About The L.A.R.C.
LARC’s Philosophy:
The Club call letters are KJ6KHI and the suffix stands for Kindness, Honesty and Integrity. This club is a private organization of Amateur Radio Operators founded on the principles of being civil, kind and treating others with respect and dignity. We do not discriminate based upon race, color, religion, Sex, National Origin, disability, age or genetics.
Community Involvement:
You will find that our club members are a diverse group from all walks of life and are very Radio Active and friendly. Many of our members have many years experience in Amateur Radio and many years of service to the Community and Served Agencies.
Education:
If you are interested in becoming an Amateur Radio Operator, we offer classes to help you get your license or to upgrade your license. When you become a member, you will enjoy the club’s Newsletter “The Moon Bounce” which will have Amateur Radio related news, articles, stories, photos, and test site information. We are planning to have Field Day, club picnic(s), participate in local parades, and have a Holiday Party. Ham Radio Events we Participate in
We saw a need to start a new club with some Kindness, Honesty, and Integrity towards others. A small Focus Group was setup to see what it would take to start a club from scratch. All members of the Focus Group had years of experience with other clubs and organizations. We started at the Post Office, moved on to the FCC, got the Club’s Call KJ6KHI, and came up with Knowledge Justice 6 Kindness, Honesty, and Integrity for the phonetics.
We then started on the website and logos. The www.LakesideARC.org is a given as most of us live in the town of Lakeside, and we are about Amateur Radio. The logos were fun to do. I looked at my Western Hat and Boots and just added the HT and bingo the first logo was done. On to the next logo, the main one with the horse shoe. This took a little more time to design. The horse shoe is right side up so all the luck will not run out. The Mustang in the middle illustrates the power of its members, the wire antenna “G0GSF” characterizes something entirely different for Hams to think about. The six element beam represents the first six members of the Focus Group whose goal was to “Shoot for the Moon” when starting a new Amateur Radio Club. The black and gold color represents the colors of the local High School and Gold is the color of our resources, our Members.

One of our biggest events we participate and Sponsor is the San Diego Hamfest. Our first one was October 2015 and except taking two year off for Covid we are still going strong and planning for the next one.
The ARRL Field Day is the next event we do for the get go we have been doing this event. We used the Shriners Camp in the Laguna Mountains, then the fire burnt down the camp we moved to Lakeside Fire Station. We ere there for a few years, now we have it at a members home in Lakeside over looking the town of Lakeside.
We do and have done parades like the Mother Goose in the City of El Cajon, and now we do the Lakeside Parade.
Touch a Truck we can be found there too. Handing out Club Flyers and talking to people about Ham Radio.
We can also be found at the Spirit of Christmas on Maine Street in Lakeside, we have a radio on the air and, Handing out Club Flyers and talking to people about Ham Radio.
And now Hamtastic San Diego we are there Handing out Club Flyers and talking to people about Ham Radio.
